The project was founded by photographers Karen Donnelly, Raimond de Weerdt and Tony Nott. Since 2002 they have worked directly with more than 5,500 individuals in a range of remote, regional and metropolitan locations across Australia. Their work has been exhibited at the Art Gallery of NSW, Museum of Brisbane and was selected in the Eureka Science Awards for Photography in 2007.
Karen Donnelly was born in 1955 and is based in Albury, NSW. From 1984 to 2004 she was a Lecturer in Photography at Charles Sturt University. Prior to this she worked both here and abroad in the Animation and Television industry. She now divides her time pursing her own photographic work, curating exhibitions and Facing Australia.. She is currently completing a book on 19th century Australian photographic history with an emphasis on Indigenous representation.
Raimond de Weerdt was born in Holland in 1963. After completing a BA at SCA and a Masters at COFA he joined Charles Sturt University in 1997 and worked there teaching Photography till 2005. He is currently completing a PhD on New Media in the Visual Arts, lecturing in photography.
Tony Nott BSc,BA, MA was born in 1954 in Adelaide. Before turning to photography he worked as a geo-physicist in remote Australia and abroad. He has been a photography educator for over twenty years in Sydney, Melbourne and Albury. He is also currently working in video on a series of digital story telling projects.
